Social-Emotional Learning Committee

  • Committee Chairperson:  Rachel DePaul

Committee Charge: The Social Emotional Learning Committee is a group dedicated to fostering the social-emotional well-being of all students, through school, community, parent engagement, and district-wide programs.

    Guiding Principles:

    • Inclusive education in a caring climate is a priority
    • There is an explicit need for Social Emotional safety
    • Children cannot learn if their social/emotional needs are not met
    • Adults and students need to feel culturally accepted/embraced
    • We need to identify and monitor trends within our school community and prescribe a plan of action
    • Everyone has to feel a sense of belonging in our schools
    • We need to create cultures that will support social emotional growth and address inappropriate verbal behaviors through education
    • Meaningful and caring student/adult connections are highly valued
    • Students must be able to practice self reflection
    • We must consider the unique needs of each individual
