Andrea was elected to her fourth term in 2018. She is Vice President of the Board and a member of the Communications Committee, Policy Committee and liaison to the CET building planning council and Sustainability Committee. She is a former board President, and has served on the Audit Committee, various ad hoc committees, including Donor Recognition, and acted as Board liaison to various community committees including the district’s Volunteer Initiative and the Community Coalition and building planning councils at every school.
Andrea and her family have lived in Croton for 19 years. She and her husband, Dave Cohen, a New York State Supreme Court attorney, moved to the area in large part for the schools. Her two children are Croton-Harmon graduates: son is studying actuarial sciences as a junior at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and daughter is working as a project manager for a medical software company after graduating from Carleton College in 2015.
Andrea had a 25-year career in public affairs, creative project management, marketing, publishing and volunteer development for such organizations as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Museum of Modern Art, and Conde Nast. She now teaches Pre-School at Childrenspace in Croton. Her community involvements have included the Croton-Harmon Special Education PTA (CH-SEPTA), which she co-founded in 2003, and for which she served as Co-President until 2008; CPSE/CSE Parent Member for five years; Girl Scout leader and cookie chair; publicity volunteer for CHEF; producer for PVC middle school musicals; parent volunteer for Destination Imagination and PTA events. She is a member of Croton Advocates for Public Education (CAPE) and The Croton Climate Initiative.
She graduated from Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA, with a B.A. in Art History.
