Anamika Bhatnagar was elected to her first term in 2023 and currently serves as Board Vice President. She and her husband, Dennis Willette, moved to Croton in 2005, and their two children have attended Croton-Harmon schools since kindergarten.
Anamika has previously served as a parent representative on various school district committees, including the Strategic Planning Team, the Equity Stakeholder Team, the Re-Entry Task Force, the PVC Building Planning Council, and the Health and Safety Committee. In her first year on the Board, she joined the Advocacy and Communications Committees, and was the liaison to the Village’s Bicycle-Pedestrian Committee and the CHHS Building Planning Council. In her second year, in addition to Advocacy, she chaired the Board Development Committee and joined the Policy Committee, and continues in the latter two roles today. She regularly participates in regional networking, legislative advocacy, and mentoring through the Westchester Putnam School Boards Association. An active PTA member, she also volunteers with a variety of community organizations, including the Croton Garden Club, the Croton Free Library, and Croton Folks Who Craft, which she co-founded.
Born in Washington, DC, Anamika grew up in Northern Virginia. After graduating from Yale University with a B.A. in English Literature and International Studies, she moved to New York City. She spent twenty years working in the children’s book industry, editing and publishing a number of award-winning titles and national bestsellers, before starting her own editorial consulting business. She is currently developing a supplementary reading program at
Benchmark Education, in a role that brings together her passions for literacy, inclusivity, and advocacy.
