Transportation

Resident pupils, ages 5 to 21 (upon district approval), who attend public or private schools in Croton are entitled to bus transportation according to the distance from home to school as measured by the shortest route. 

Transportation is provided for the following distances:

Grades K-4: three-tenths of a mile or more from school
Grades 5-12: nine-tenths of a mile or more from school

Bus stop times are approximate times only:  Parents are advised that school buses may arrive five minutes early.  Students are encouraged to wait at the bus stop until 10 minutes after the scheduled time.   It is the parents’ responsibility to get students to and from bus stops safely.  If a student misses the bus, it is the parents’ responsibility to get your child to school.

Students are not permitted to change buses, nor are non-riders permitted to accompany riders.  Exceptions to this practice may be considered by the appropriate building principal and the transportation director upon written request by the student’s parent or guardian.

Transportation routes and schedules are subject to change; faculty, students, and parents will be notified.  Seatbelts are available on all school buses and children are advised on how to use them.  A student’s good behavior on school buses is essential to assure safety in transporting all students.

Transportation is also provided for district resident pupils who attend nonpublic schools outside the district up to 15 miles away as measured from the base of your driveway where the driveway meets the road to the drop off location at the school.
