Board Service

  • Two (2) School Board Member positions in the Croton-Harmon Union Free School District will be filled by election on May 21, 2019.  Each position is for a three-year term, from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022.  Each position is at-large, to be elected by all participating voters. 

    Qualifications for service as a member of the School Board are:  Must be a citizen of the United States of America; must be a minimum of 18 years of age; must be a resident of the District for one year prior to the election; and must be able to read and write.  For more information, call Tracey Borges, School District Clerk, at 914-271-4713 ext. 4202.

    Residents of the District who desire to run for a position on the School Board must file a petition containing a minimum of 25 legal signatures and addresses with the School District Clerk on or before 5:00 PM on Monday, April 22, 2019. 

    2019-2020 Nomination Petition Packet (Spanish 2019-2020 Petition Packet) are available online at www.chufsd.org. Nominating petitions are also available through April 22, 2019 at the District Office, 10 Gerstein Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday and on Monday, April 22, 2019 until 5:00 PM. 

    Education Law states the placement of names of candidates for the Office of School Board Member shall be placed on the ballot in order as determined by the drawing of lots.  The District Clerk will conduct the drawing on April 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the District Office located at 10 Gerstein Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY.  The District Clerk is authorized to serve as proxy for any candidate not present or represented.  Should a candidate wish to be represented in proxy by a person other than the District Clerk, the request should be submitted in writing and sent to the attention of Tracey Borges at the District Office.  

    The Annual Meeting, including the election of School Board Member(s), the votes on the 2019-2020 school district and library budgets and a proposition authorizing the District to borrow funds for the purchase of school buses, will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Croton-Harmon High School (Gymnasium), 36 Old Post Road South, Croton-on-Hudson, NY.
