Eight Croton-Harmon High School Seniors Named Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit® Scholarship Program

Croton-Harmon High School seniors Romy Files, Celia Gesue, Bronwyn Hunt, Max Kramer, Jeremy Pollak, Maya Sebestyen, Michael Sena, and Archer Sheridan have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement as 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Students.

Each year, about 1.3 million students take the PSAT/NMSQT and meet the eligibility requirements for the National Merit® Scholarship Program. Only the top 34,000 — roughly 2.6% nationwide — earn Commended Student status, placing these CHHS seniors among the top 50,000 high-achieving students across the country.

Principal Dr. Laura Dubak shared, “We are tremendously proud of Romy, Celia, Bronwyn, Max, Jeremy, Maya, Michael, and Archer. This distinguished designation reinforces the promise that passionate learning offers and the possibilities for success.

She continued: “While this award honors a specific academic achievement, we take pride in knowing that these students demonstrate success in many areas that they are passionate about including the arts, athletics, languages, and more.”
