Meet Isabelle McLoughlin: CHHS Senior Embracing her Role as the BOE Student Ex-Officio
You’d probably recognize her voice from the morning announcements at CHHS, and senior Isabelle McLoughlin is now using her voice for an additional job as the student ex-officio member on the Board of Education. In this advisory role, Isabelle is the third student to represent the CHHS student body on the Board.
Isabelle is dedicated to advocating for student opinions and needs, ensuring their voices are heard in the decision-making process. “I am constantly hearing the buzz of student opinion during the day through chatting with my friends, talking to classmates, and striking up conversations with new people. I also try to let everyone know that they can always reach out to me if they have any questions or concerns,” she explained.
Beyond her Student Ex-Officio role, Isabelle is looking forward to making the most of her senior year. She’s especially excited to participate in “all the senior traditions and bonding with the kids I’ve known since kindergarten before we go off on our separate ways.” This "year of lasts" is bittersweet, but it will surely be filled with creating lasting memories with fellow Tigers.
Looking ahead, Isabelle plans to attend college and is considering pursuing a major in business, focusing on finance, economics, or marketing. Until then, Isabelle will continue taking on a rigorous academic schedule (5 APs this year!), practicing for the Spring drama, volunteering at CET events, and working with the JCK Croton Legends Club.
It was through the JCK Croton Legends Club that Isabelle got to know Ms. Nadeem, a school counselor and advisor for the club. She truly admires Ms. Nadeem and shared that her unwavering dedication and mentorship have empowered her to advocate for mental health awareness and break the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
A self-described travel-lover, one of Isabelle's most cherished high school experiences was her opportunity to travel to La Rochelle, France, with her French class. The language immersion and cultural adventure left a lasting impression on Isabelle. She describes the opportunity as something she will “cherish” for the rest of her life. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to learn outside the classroom in such an amazing place with the best people—French and American!” she said.
Wishing Isabelle all the best in her last year at CHHS and wherever her travels take her!
