Congratulations to Jesse Pollak, a Croton-Harmon High School junior, for taking first place in the Third Annual Croton-Harmon School District Chess Tournament, held Thursday at the Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School.
Chess is definitely making a huge comeback in Croton-Harmon, with 37 participants, ranging from first through 12th grades, participating in this year's tournament. Teachers Philip Ranieri and Matthew Zinman served as proctors for the tournament and Jesse was student proctor.
Taking second place in the tournament was 7th-grader Robert Taylor and Jeremy Pollak, a fifth-grader, took third.
The tournament is open to all students who attend the Croton-Harmon Schools. And next year, you never know -- more pizza might be needed!
