Literacy is a cornerstone of development and, at CET, we work hard to instill in students a love of reading. This week we celebrated Read Across America and, with a different events each day, invited students to dress up as a favorite book character, find a book that helps them learn about a different culture or profession, and even wear PJs to school and cuddle up with a book to close out the week. Our third and fourth graders also came into classes to read to the younger students.
You may not be surprised to learn that the photos suggest we will have a number of Croton-Harmon residents practicing witchcraft and wizardry in the near future! We also see a few students who are dressed up like their teacher so that, they too, can help teach children to read one day.
“Read Across America week provided a fun and engaging opportunity to bring awareness to the many types of literature that are available,” said Principal Bianchi. “We love to foster a love of reading in all our students.”
What will you be reading this weekend? Let us know!
