Fourth Grade Chorus Takes First Place in Competition,
While Also Getting a Real-Life Lesson in Patience
The CET fourth grade chorus was awarded a trophy today for their first place finish at Music in the Parks. Dorney Park, located in Allentown, PA, hosts a series of music competitions at which students are adjudicated and then perform for park guests. Students also spend a good part of the day enjoying the park’s rides and attractions.
“The students performed beautifully and, as always, made us incredibly proud,” said music teacher and chorus director Marlena Horton.
However, with the pending threat of heavy storms and a tornado threat in the area, the students left the park before the winners were announced. An adventure ensued as they ran through rain to board the bus and then were in traffic for several hours as they made their way back to Croton-on-Hudson. They learned of their first place finish the next day, making a tough ride much sweeter.
Mrs. Horton praised the students for their behavior and patience the entire day and especially on the trip home. She also gives a special shout-out to bus driver Ian for being so good-natured and, of course, getting everyone home safely.
