Nichole Kelly To Join Pierre van Cortlandt Middle School As Assistant Principal
Croton-on-Hudson, NY, June 21, 2022 -- The Croton Harmon Union Free School District is pleased to welcome Nichole Kelly as the Assistant Principal of PVC Middle School. Mrs. Kelly has been working with middle school students for over 20 years, as a teacher, department leader, and assistant principal in the Chappaqua and Hendrick Hudson School Districts. Most recently in the Chappaqua Central School District, Mrs. Kelly was responsible for spearheading in person learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, serving as the building DASA coordinator, and implementing and revising health and safety guidelines, just to name a few key responsibilities.
Prior to that, Mrs. Kelly served in both administrative and educational roles at Blue Mountain Middle School in the Hendrick Hudson School District for nineteen years. There, she served as the Department Leader for the English Language Department and served in a variety of roles including Extended School Year program, the Mentor Program, and the AIS/ RTI programs. At Blue Mountain Middle School Mrs. Kelly also worked in close collaboration with the Middle School assistant principal, where she was immersed in the many responsibilities of this position.
“We are thrilled to have Mrs. Kelly join our administrative team as the new assistant principal of PVC Middle School,” said Superintendent Steve Walker. “Her range of experience in the classroom and as an administrator, combined with her leadership in several priority areas for our district make her an ideal addition to our leadership team.”
Described by the selection committee as energetic, approachable, authentic, and honest, Mrs. Kelly is an excellent fit for the district, as well. She underscores the importance of working with her colleagues to create an environment in which students feel accepted and inspired.
“Together we can create learning experiences for all students that are engaging, relevant and take place in an active learning environment,” said Mrs. Kelly.
Ms. Kelly earned her BA in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from Manhattanville College, an MA in Education from Manhattanville College, and a Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration from Manhattanville College.
Mrs. Kelly takes over the position from Lauren Scollins, who will depart the district at the end of the 2021-22 school year.
