CHUFSD Introduces New Branding with Logo that Embodies its Values and Future Direction

The Croton-Harmon Union Free School District today unveiled a refreshed brand identity, including a new logo and unified color scheme. The logo features interlocking spheres to symbolize and celebrate cohesiveness within the community, as well as a ‘swoosh’ in an upward trajectory towards a star to signify the district's continued pursuit of future-driven and innovative teaching and learning. The branding also aligns with the district’s work on an updated strategic plan.

Conceptualized and designed by Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES in partnership with Assistant Superintendent John Griffiths and Technology/Communications Specialist Greg Cavalieri, the branding replaces the existing Blue Ribbon Logo within a multi-colored globe which was created to reflect the district’s Profile of a Graduate. While that logo has served the district well and the Croton-Harmon Schools continue to be guided by the Profile of a Graduate, feedback indicated that the many visual elements can be challenging to see. Furthermore, there has been a stated desire to unify the color scheme so that the district and athletic branding are complementary.

This effort was taken on by the Board of Education’s Communications Committee, which believes in the importance of branding that aligns with the district’s values and core purpose.

“The Board Communications Committee has been considering a logo change for some time and believes it is important that the district's brand reflect its strong and important connection to the community,” said Board President Sarah Carrier.

“The Croton-Harmon Schools are known for our vision, student-centered orientation, and long-standing partnership with the community,” said Assistant Superintendent John Griffiths. “With the attributes of the Profile of the Graduate now embedded in our approach to education, and the strategic plan being updated to guide our work, we recognized that this is the right time to update the visual representation of the district and believe that this new design addresses not only who we are, but also where we are going.”
